  6. G. Loomis E6X Salmon Mooching Rods

    Starting at: $289.99

    G. Loomis E6X Salmon Mooching Rods

    G. Loomis E6X Salmon Mooching Rods are designed to offer herring or anchovies in a natural presentation by slowly trolling or drifting with the wind or tide. There are three different power-ratings... one for silvers and small kings with two more powerful options to fight big fish. While powerful, their moderate actions provide enough flex to allow the salmon to grab the bait and munch on it for a while before taking it for keeps.

Our standard G. Loomis E6X Salmon Mooching Rod is 9-feet long, but to help spread out multiple rigs we offer longer rods to cover more water, handle longer leaders and avoid tangles. Sensitivity isn't a priority for mooching since you use a rod holder, but these rods can be used for drift fishing in the rivers where sensitivity is important and especially when you need more power for deep, swift current and big fish.

    G. Loomis E6X Salmon Mooching Rod technology allows us to make them light yet surprisingly strong, a real bonus when the bite is on! All rods feature Fuji guides and reel seats with graphite handles for ease and durability when using a rod holders.

  7. G. Loomis Float Spinning Rods

    Starting at: $345.00

Steelhead anglers on the tributary rivers and stream of the Great Lakes have been fishing with floats for a number of years. It's kind of like fishing for bluegill with a bobber and bait, but the current can be a lot swifter, the fish a lot bigger and the anglers a little older (at least chronologically). These rods are long for good reason. You need to be able to mend your line so you can maintain a drag-free drift and cover as much water as you can, plus when you lift the tip to set the hook, you can move a lot of line which is especially important when the floats are set deep or you’re at the end of a long, extended drift. The extra length also helps protect lighter line, especially considering the size of the fish.

  9. G. Loomis Salmon Mooching Fishing Rod SAMR1024C
    $325.00

    G. Loomis Salmon Mooching Fishing Rod SAMR1024C is a casting rod designed for mooching in the ocean or drift fishing in rivers. It is surprisingly light considering the magnum power. There's plenty of strength in the butt-section to move fish away from trouble and manage them in the swift currents. The tip is relatively fast and it's very sensitive, allowing you to feel that subtle take that can make catching salmon in the rivers so difficult. Note: the lure rating refers to trolling/mooching weight. If you are casting from boat or bank in the river, it will handle 2 to 3-ounces effectively.

  10. G. Loomis Salmon Mooching Fishing Rod SAMR1084C
    $330.00

    G. Loomis Salmon Mooching Fishing Rod SAMR1084C is our standard mooching rod, designed to fish cut-bait, flashers or lures in the ocean. When mooching or trolling, boat captains will spread their rigs by using shorter rods at the back of the boat with longer rods on the sides. This is usually the short rod at the corner and can be used in conjunction with a down-rigger. It will mooch or troll up to 6-ounces, but will cast only 2 or 3-ounces effectively. Drift fishermen can use it in the river for casting or plunking. It will handle even the largest of the salmon species, no problem!
